Listen Up! is a month-long initiative designed to encourage school-aged children to make classical music listening a part of their daily lives. This program underscores the unique value and transformative power of classical music.
Students who successfully complete the program listening goal will receive a voucher for a free ice cream cone from Larry’s Dawg House. They will also be entered into a drawing for a classical music CD. The grade divisions are grades K-3; grades 4-6; grades 7-9; grades 10-12 Listening time is recorded on a special monthly tracking calendar. Listen Up! is currently operating this program partnering with the Athens Community Music School, with all ACMS students eligible to participate. We hope to expand the program's reach in the future. Listen Up! is an initiative of Project Inspirare (projectinspirare.org), the ongoing classical music outreach program of the Ohio University Collegiate Chapter of the Music Teachers National Association and chapter advisor, Dr. Christopher Fisher.
